Future vaccines rely on other pathways for delivery

What developing technologies and products will make vaccine administration and compliance easier in the future?

There are a couple of possibilities, according to Darin Madson, DVM, Iowa State University pathologist.

While early in development, alternative vaccination methods are being researched. Vaccinating large groups of pigs with an aerosol is being studied, as are oral and nasal vaccines.

Another advancement is better adjuvants used for vaccines. The newest adjuvants promote higher, stronger and longer-lasting production of antibodies and thus better protection, he explains.
