Highlights of flu-management strategies meeting now available

Influenza A virus (IAV-S) continues to be thorn in the side of the US swine industry, costing producers an average $10.31 per marketing pig.1

In a special report from Pig Health Today, “Integrated Flu Management: New Strategies for Control,” experts in IAV-S shared their thoughts on tackling the virus as well as the management strategies that need to be adopted as the virus evolves.

Brought together during a special Zoetis roundtable, immunology specialists and swine veterinarians reviewed the latest prevalence data, shared field experiences and learned about innovative approaches being used to control viruses in other food-animal species.

It’s all about immunity

Hoping to help the pork industry develop new strategies for control, Zoetis brought together immunology specialists and swine veterinarians for a one-day meeting to review the latest prevalence data, share field experiences and learn about innovative approaches being used to control viruses in other food-animal species.

The highlights from those presentations and a roundtable discussion are presented in this 38-page booklet. Articles include:

“Clearly, there is no ‘silver bullet’ to stop this virus,” said Micah Jansen, DVM, Veterinary Manager for US Pork, Zoetis. “Successful control programs therefore require a strategic, integrated approach with all available tools, and new strategies as explained in this booklet show promise.”
